Kynduvme
Recipe for the sunshine (independent review)
If you're an avid listener of pop rock reminiscent of bands
like They Might be Giants, Fuel (Late 1990's of course)
or Fountains of Wayne (post 2003), Long Island's own Kynduvme
(pronounced Kind-Of-Me) is right up your alley. Although
to give this band a little more credit, the songwriting
is more Third Eye Blind-ish than anything.
What's is the verdict? Well, for starters what will make
you want to listen to this bands music is that their lyrics
entail the only good thing that is rad (yes, that's right,
I said it) about modern pop rock: Third Eye Blind styled
lyrics infused with the pop rock styling of a live local
Friday night bar rock band.
Tunes such as "Those Violent Begonias", "Have
You Heard About The Man Who Was Shot Dead (Who No One Loved)"
and "Bad Week" spill out in true modern pop rock
fashion, the stories about death, apathy, prostitution,
and the ever growing emotional maliciousness of women (ha,
ha).
In short, if you like unorthodox pop-like lyrics mixed with
modern pop rock soundings, this album is worth a try. If
not, then stick to other indie pop bands that try to do
the whole modern "gay-rage rock" faux phenomenon
that you see every day courtesy of MTV and KROCK.
Kynduvme's Debut album tilted "Recipe For Sunshine"
contains 12 tracks plus as an enhanced CD version, contains
videos, b-sides, and studio clips that all can appreciate
for the modest price of $7 (plus 3 bones shipping) at the
bands website www.kynduvme.com.
